Cities, Furnished Apartments, Leisure, South America

Temuco is a province in the south of Chile, but due to the isolation, most things were quite expensive. The hotel itself was only 5 minutes by taxi from the city centre, but I would recommend taking a walk every now-and-then because of the cost of taxis in Chile. For 5 mins, you can pay $4 USD, a whopping great amount when you consider other areas in South America. And while things in Temuco were expensive, Santiago was even worse!
Tierra del Sur is a 3-star hotel, located in a quiet area of Temuco, maybe even a little too quiet. It can feel quiet spooky if you leave the hotel at night, and see and hear very little. Temuco is not much of a tourist area, and this very little to see or do, but the people are very friendly and keen to meet the new arrivals. But that could have been because we were there during the National Day of Chile.
The room had all the comforts of a flat apartment, 2 good bedrooms, lounge, kitchen, bathroom, cable tv, telephone, wireless connection, and heating. Also the staff were very friendly and helpful. Although I don’t recommend the breakfast, as everyday it was exactly the same, so if you need to stay for there for a while, you will eventually grow to hate the food. The area around the hotel was nice, with a courtyard to relax, and a communal area for relaxing and watching the TV with the other visitors.

The Maria Angola is a 3-star hotel, that had excellent service, large bedrooms and a complete bathroom with plenty of clean towels. Cable TV, a dinning area, wireless internet and a work space is also available. Unfortunately, all these things leave very little room relax, and probably best suits the business traveler more than a family.
Located in Providencia residential area, one on the most modern and exclusive areas in Santiago. The hotel was also only 2 blocks from the main avenue, and city square where some of the most well known shops can be found.
The room service was quick, even when the food was ordered from a nearby restaurant. But to be honest, the food wasn’t great and very expensive ($12 USD). If you head out of town, you will find much better found at a much cheaper price (but then you need to pay the taxi fare). The staff were very helpful and should a good level of respect for their clients.

Eger is a historical city in northern Hungary. The city is best known about the large number of Turkish monuments and its wine, that is named “Bull’s Blood”. The hotel is located on a hill and has a pleasing view to the Valley of the Beautiful Woman with a number of romantic wine cellars. The hotel has 4 buildings in a beautiful park. The 3-star and the 4-star rooms are in separate buildings, as well as the reception and a small restaurant. In the middle of the park, between the buildings, there is another restaurant with a hall for about 200 people. This hall is made of timber, built around a tree and has a terrace with tables. There is also a 100-year old little chapel. It is really romantic with all the trees, bushes and flowers and the small paths in-between.
The employees of the hotel are friendly enough, especially the waiters. The meals are delicious and the serving is good. The 3-star rooms are really hot in the summer, as they have no air-conditioner, only the 4-star ones. There is a wellness facility in the 4-star building with sauna, massage, jacuzzi and a lovely little pool and a fitness room in the basement. The prices are a bit high for an average tourist and the wellness services are a bit short for the price, but all in all, it is a good choice for a few days rest.

A well located 3-star hotel. The rooms were clean, and while not many of the staff knew English, they were always ready to help with any problems. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are nice and warm at night – even the bathroom floors are heated, which is a nice touch.
The breakfast buffet was delicious, and the price was reasonable at around 200 Euros for the weekend. Nearby restaurants were wonderful for lunch meals and Lake Konstanz is always a great visit. Then, of course, there are the strange assortments of painted cows that were scattered about the town when we visited. Quite utterly the most bizare I have ever seen in my travels.
Konstanz is an extraordinary town located on the Swiss - German border, where you have to show you passport to pass into the Swiss half, and again to return to the German lands. So always remember you passport every time you go out. It is always quite a novelty to see which of our group of travelers would be stopped for that extra long check just to make sure we don’t forget to take things seriously.

Very centrally located, Jurys Inn is within walking distance of the main cultural areas like Dublin Castle, Trinity College, Georgian Dublin, The National Collage of Art and The National Museum. Also, the location is very close to the Guinness Factory and the Temple Bar area, if getting to know the nightlife and the inside of a pint glass is more your thing. There did seem to be a very high proportion of ´Hen´s Nights´ during the weekend in Dublin so beware of the drunken ´Bride to be´ leaping at you from the nearest bar stool.
When we stayed here in 2002, and paid just over £100 for the weekend for each room, which included breakfast. The elevators did seem to be designed for leprechauns but the rooms were standard for a 3-star hotel, clean but with a smallish bathroom, and somewhat comfortable beds.
