City Lodge, Port Elizabeth, South Africa
February 19, 2008 Africa, Cities, Hotels (Hotels and Resorts), Leisure, Seaport No CommentsThe first thing you might think as you see City Lodge is “who in the their right mind would stay in a pink building?” but once you get past the awful paintjob the lodge is very nice. With big bedrooms, very modern and clean, and with a fantastic bed.
When I visited, I managed to arrive just at the right time to go whale watching on a boat. Something that before, I thought was rather lame, but now I recommend to everyone.
The hotel also has a pool, if you don’t want to head off to the beach. But to be honest, there much better beaches in other parts of South Africa. Also, if you look around a little you can found little gems like the Billabong factory outlet for some good cheap clothes. Since Port Elizabeth is at one end of the Garden Route, it’s a place a lot of people forget as they head to Cape Town or north for a safari. But in a quiet town, this is a quaint well priced lodge.
