February 19, 2008 1:41 pm Cities, Europe, Family Vacation, LeisureThe city lies on southern Slovakia, close to border with Hungary (75km from Kosice). Roznava was mining city in medievial. There is a minning museum you should visit. You should also spend some time on preserved medievial old town.
It that region there are numerous castles. The best know is Krasna Horka from 14th century. Another palace is in Betliar when you go there you’ll visit rooms that haven’t changed since 19th century.
Close to Roznava is “Slovensky Kras” the beautiful region with many caves.

The area is beautiful! It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. I recommend everybody go there and take long walks in the forests and go down the caves. The Aggtelek National Park in Hungary is in the near and some of the caves go under the border and connect the two countries.
